August (2014) Round 3 Results: Theme of Your Boutique

Sorry about the delay y'all, I've been having a lot of work and school. However, I have finally gotten around to posting this rounds results.

Fashionista O' July (2014): Paris Couture

This last July 9 contestants entered my Fashionista O' July contest in hopes of winning. However, there can be only 1 winner and that winner was Paris Couture. She got the top outfit for the first two rounds which carried her through the tough final round.

Round 1: Hike in Sequoia National Park was a good beginning to a good contest for Paris Couture. As you can see above, her outfit matched all the criteria from the round. (To see the results, click here)

In Round 2: a Cave Tour at Wind Cave National Park, the National Park theme became clear and it was interesting to see the contestants work with the requirements. I had some issues with copying by another contestant, but it was unintentional so I let it go. (to see the results, click here)

The final round was very unique and fun to watch as it always throws people off. That is why I always use it... This round Paris Couture didn't do as well as before, but no one is perfect. (to see results, click here)

Results for July Round 3

Before we get to the points and final positions, I want to thank you all for joining my contest. You all did very well and where very patient with my moving delays. Thanks a ton!

Fashionista O' March: moynistwo

On February 22 moyistwo turned in her first outfit along with most of the other 15 contestants. Eventually she won the contest by 4 points and won the Title of Fashionista O' March (2014)! I know I am really late in posting this but it has been a crazy last few weeks.

Fashionista O' February: Lovelicious

On January 24, 2014, 15 contestants prepared their outfits for the first round all hoping to be named Fashionista O' February. At first I thought that last months winner, Sparkle, would win by a landslide. However, Lovelicious moved up in the point department and past Sparkle.

Fashionista O' January: Sparkle

On December 26, 2013 I sent out invite to a select group of people on Fashion Story to join my contest. Of those I invited, only 7 responded. Sparkle's over all score matched the current top record still held by Jourdyn Sparkle, the Fashionista O' November in 2013. Here are some of her amazing outfits... Enjoy!

This is not Sparkle's first award on Fashion Story, which goes to show how consistent she is when it comes to fashion. I loved almost all her outfits, and hope to have her in my next contest. It is people like this that make my job as judge a joy. Thank you Sparkle, and Congrats! ~ Sky's Limit

Annual Contests, Why and How to Start the Process

Once a month I host a 5-round contest to decide the new Fashionista O' the month, and just for fun. Why? For one thing I love entering contests myself and as I started to enter more, I began to see things that I could do in a more organized way. As I continued to ponder this fact, I came up with the system which I wrote about in How To Start Your Own Avatar Contest, Part 1 and Part 2. 

Now, some people just hold random contests whenever they feel like it, but I prefer organization and consistency. So, I decided to have a monthly contest that would at the most have 15# contestants. As I  started my first Fashionista O' the month contest (Fashionista O' July, 2013), I realized that I needed to offer a prize to the winner. I also determined to come up with a title to give them, and after some thought I concluded that the winner would receive 1 month of likes and the title of Fashionista O' the month. 

At first I did an annual contest to see if I could improve the process I was seeing all-round me, but as I continued to host contests I started to do it just for the fun of trying to stump my contestants which sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't. I also noticed that my popularity, neighbor count and the number of messages left on my wall increased during my contests, to the point I have trouble keeping up. 

So, if your boutique seems a lonely place hosting a contest might help open up new doors and be a fun thing to do. To start, pick a specific time (if you are planning on doing monthly, pick a day, if you are going to do a yearly, pic a month, etc) and then a prize and title. Then I suggest at least reading if not emulating the instructions in the following posts:

Unlike when you enter a contest, to host one you do not haft to own a lot of clothes or be a certain level. Though I will say that having more clothes for my avatar is helpful, it is not required. In addition, you do not have to get it perfect the first time. I am on my 8th contest and I am still making changes to my operating system.

Though honestly, I just enjoy the fact that other people are having fun and possibly laughing at some of the things I come up with for keywords and round themes. To boot, I get to see some of the cutest outfits in the game as well as some of the silliest outfits on the face of the earth.  :)
