Weekly Closet Update: Country Girl

Since I have been without reliable wifi for my computer for the last two weeks, I'm a little behind when it comes to writing some of my posts. Speaking of which...

This was last weeks closet update, and I love the outfit! The dress is cute, the bracelet just happens to be my favorite color and the necklace is very pretty. Not to mention the Western Boots, which are just amazing!

Ironically, I was at a chuck wagon dinner not long before I discovered this new update... :) Anyways, the only thing I didn't like about the update was that everything but the shoes cost gems. Is it that hard to have one complete set of items that don't cost gems?

In the outfit I made I utilized the new boots along with one of my favorite purses, to make a chic cowgirl outfit. What do you think of this weeks update?

Overall, I love the update and hope we have more like it in the coming months. ~ Sky's Limit

Covet Fashion: A Walk Through of The App

Over the last few weeks I have been introducing a Fashion Game that I think is an awesome companion to Fashion Story.

In this post I am going to show you around the app and give you a general idea of what each section is and does. First of is the Inbox and Home:

The inbox is where you will get the notices for your ticket allowance, what your scores where in events and other important news. There is not much more to say and it is pretty simple to use. As featured in a later image, to change between screens you open the menu by tapping the three black lines in the top left corner.

Next is home (I don't have a picture for this section) this simply displays the scores of players near your location and some of the top outfits in your area. Not really useful for me.

After that we have the enter events tab (middle image in the collage above). This is where you enter events as written about in an earlier post.

The last one I have a picture of is the Go Shopping tab where you can 'buy' new clothing items with the money you earn by entering events. You can use the filter to create a specific search or just window shop.

Shop Online (another one I don't have a pic for) simply gives you an the option to go online and buy the items in the game in real life. Not really useful to me, but if you really like an item I could see it helping with finding it.

Now for the Closet:

Before I continue I will note that there are quite a few more tabs to go through, but since they are not exactly necessary to play the game (except the FAQ) I decided not to go into detail. The name of the tab describes i enough in my opinion. However, if you have questions, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer them.

As seen above there are 5 secondary tabs within the closet. The first one is My Garments. This shows you all the clothing items you own, their normal price, etc. It also gives you opportunity to create outfits just for fun on the bottom right via the button 'Create Look' (which you can't see in this collage).

Next is My Looks. This is where you can view your looks for both events and what you may have done for fun. As you can tell I have quite a few looks already made.

After that you will find Liked Looks. This is where any outfit you have liked will show up (see this post). I use this not only to look at some of awesome outfits I've liked, but if I like a specific garment I use this to find it and maybe buy it depending on the price. This brings us to the next tab.

The Liked Garment tab is very useful to me and here is why. Let's just say I am 'window' shopping and I see an item I would like to get for my model, but I don't have the money at the moment. If I like the item, it saves here and I can come back and buy it when I have the coins or gems needed.

The last tab is Liked Brands, but since I haven't figured out how to like brands (nor do I want to really) I don't know what it could be useful for. I just don't use it and pretend it doesn't exist...

I hope this post has helped you understand the game better, please feel free to ask any questions. If you have a suggestion for a post subject or a fashion game that you think I might like please leave a comment here. Thank You! ~ Sky's Limit

Welcome to the Limit Label of Fame: Recka's Place

I was looking through my pictures, when I stumbled upon this screen shot taken on February 4, 2014.  Then I realized I had (for whatever reason) yet to add it to this Label.

I love this color combination, and the simplicity of this outfit makes it pop all the more. I really like her makeup choice it goes well with the rest of the outfit. Great job Recka! ~ Sky's Limit

Covet Fashion: How to Vote and Why it is Important (Part 2)

Last week I talked about Covet Fashion and why I think it is the perfect app for Fashion Story Contest Lovers. Today I will be talking about one important part of the game: Voting.

"Your votes are the only thing that determine the look ratings in Covet Fashion. When a look gets a higher percentage of votes, it's rating goes up. That's it!"

In the picture above the informational note gives some guidelines as to how they want you to vote. It also mentions something else:

"You are required to vote for tickets in order to ensure that all users get enough votes on their outfits."

The voting is blind until after you vote so you have nothing to go on but the outfit. This prevents someone playing favorites, etc. For each event you vote on (usually consisting of 4-6 votes), you earn 2 tickets towards entering your own events. You also get a daily allowance of 20 tickets, but since most events are 25 tickets this only helps a little.

To Vote, you can either tap on the outfit or the word vote at the bottom of the screen. Choose the outfit you think fits the theme of the event the best.

What Liking does is save the outfit so you can share it to social media later, look at what items are in the outfit if you want to buy them and gives the player points towards other things as well. However it does not give them any boost in the contest. To like, either tap the heart on the bottom of the first pic or the like button on the second.

When your voting meter is full, you get 2 tickets as mention earlier. The more tickets you have, the more events you can enter, the more coins and prizes you can win. It is a win-win situation in my opinion.

Next time, I'll walk you through the rest of the app giving you more insight on who to use it. For now I wanted to go into more detail about voting and give you a perspective on what the game is all about. ~ Sky's Limit

Covet Fashion: A Fashion Game for Contest Lovers (Part 1)

I recently got a new fashion game called Covet Fashion, and I am really enjoying it. The reason I'm posting about it here is because I happen to know there are a lot of contest lovers on Fashion Story. This game is all about fashion contests... So in this post I'll be explaining why I think it should be something every contest fashionista on Fashion Story should like.

I am planning on writing a post about how to use the app, but for now I just want to explain what I mean by contests. These contests (or events as they are called in the game) have all the elements that I mentioned in my series about hosting a contest and the one I wrote about making up contest rounds (to see the post click here, you might haft to scroll down a bit). Relatable stories, reasonable timelines, requirements to make it interesting and unique prizes that are hard to get otherwise.

To show you what I mean, Ill walk you through the process using an event that I entered not to long ago, called Outdoor Concert.

First you pick which event you want to design your outfit for (there are no caps on how many events you can enter, providing you have the tickets which we will discuss next time) and after reading the more detailed description, tap 'Create Look'.

When you tap 'Create Look', the above screen should pop up. It may be different depending on the theme, but it will be basically the same. Most events have a small list requirements, so pay attention. Though when you start playing you don't have much, with a little work you might be surprised on how many events you can enter each day. I know I am.

After you enter an outfit, you have an option to share it to social media (pinterest and Facebook for example) and then the event will look like the ones on the bottom left in the picture above. You either enter another event, go shopping of more clothes or vote which we discuss in my next post.

If you love entering contests, than I suggest at least checking out this app and considering getting it. I love playing it and since the clothes featured are things that you can get on the real market, I find it even more interesting than Fashion Story Avatar contests (though I enjoy those to). Please feel free to ask questions via comments, thanks for reading! ~ Sky's Limit

Weekly Update: Beach Bride (Way to Go Team Lava!)

The first words that came out of my mouth when I saw this in the catalog was "Awesome!". My second thought was to check the prices for the avatar items, but I want to say first that I love this outfit. No complaints, no criticism, and no I wishes.

The only thing I'm sad about is the price for the dress, earrings and headdresses. They are gems, which as you know I don't have in spades. Though I will be saving up for the headdress, it is just to perfect for my theme outfit...

Over all, great job Team Lava... I won't say it... I won't say it.... Never mind here it goes... I hope that next weeks update is as good it not better!

As you can see I used the shoes in an elegant princess outfit along with some other blue accessories.

What did y'all think about this outfit? Is it worth the high price? ~ Sky's Limit
