This girl just keeps surprising me with her ability to put outfits together! Not only was she the first to be put in The Limit Label of Fame, but she also was the Fashionista O' October (2013)! Love Pink is one of my favorite Fashion Story neighbors and she also writes an awesome Fashion Story Blog of her own that I check often.

Weekly Closet Update: Piscine Resort

Honestly, I was considerably surprised at the cuteness of most of this weeks new items. The dress was adorable though it costs gems, and the Tulip is really unique. The shoes will work with a lot of my outfits and are featured in the outfit on the right. The tote to me is what didn't really work with this outfit or even the one I put it in (outfit on the left). 

Team Lava is slowly and shakily improving the quality and consistency of their weekly updates, so I hope to see something even better next week. Either way most of the outfit was decently priced and looked ok on the avatar.

5 How to Tips For Contestants and Contest Hosts in Regarding to Outfits: a Subject Suggested by moynistwo

Tip #1, Make Sure You Understand the Theme: Don't be afraid to ask questions or request further explanation. Not only does this help you do your best in the competition but it can help the contest host learn how to explain herself to her contestants. To my Contest Hosts out there, if you can tell that someone does not understand what you are asking then find a way to help them without making them feel humiliated or embarrassed. 

By understanding what you are dressing for, your outfit will be way better equipped for the contest and you've got a very good chance on making it to the next round.

Tip #2, Combine Matching and Colorful: Try to have matching items in your outfits but at the same time don't be afraid to add that pop or surprise item that can take your outfit to the next level. You want their first reaction to be "wow, this person did a great job" or anything like that.

This is something which I apply to more than just Fashion Story Avatar Contests. I also apply it to writing blog posts, drawing, the list goes on. 

Tip #3. Beautiful Can Be Less Coins: You might think that the more coins/gems an item is, the cuter it will be. This is not always the case, so I don't worry about the end cost of my outfit in real life or in Fashion Story. For instance for my Christmas Outfits I used some of the items you get for free in the beginning, at like level 80 (or something like that). Anyway, price isn't a defining factor in my choices for winners of my contests nor of what I wear for contests I am in.

Just something to think about and watch out for.

Tip #4. Accessories, Accessories and more Accessories: I know you have most likely heard this many times, but I happen to know that the accessories you chose can change an outfit from elegant to casual, basketball time to date time, etc. Pick your accessories with care and remember to experiment with what goes and what doesn't. 

Tip #5. Ask For Pointers From Contest Host if You Get Eliminated: If your outfit doesn't 'cut it' ask for the honest reasons and learn from their critic. Most of the ladies I know would gladly give pointers to their contestants and I know I have in the past though only when asked.  

To those of you who are contest hosts, keep in mind that you owe it to your voluntary contestants to make being in your contest as fun as you can.

Weekly Closet Update: New School

I feel like I'm on a fashion roller coaster, and for those of you who don't know I do not like roller coasters at all.

Team Lava's weekly updates are going up and then way down, making it very annoying for those of us who have even a little bit of fashion sense. 

First off the name just threw me off. Would any of you wear this to school? I mean, seriously they need to work on the naming process... 

The shirt is ok, though I like the white business shirt way better and I don't even wear that one very often. The sunglasses are just sunglasses, the skirt would be ok if it fit better and the shoes are cute but don't even match the outfit.

On the right is my business outfit that is built around the shirt and on the left is my bowling outfit made around the shoes. I like that I know have cute bowling shoes for my avatar... But that is about it for the new outfit. I'm not even sure I am going to buy the shirt...

March Round 3: Theme of Your Boutique!

Round 5: Theme of Your Boutique! You are to dress to represent your boutique's unique theme to the press! Post the Theme of Your Boutique when you are done (ex. Green and Blue Beach Chic), you have 24 hours to change.

This round I will be adding up your overall scores so no eliminations, You are the top 6! Remember only one person can be named Fashionista O' March, so chose your outfits wisely and be creative!  

Thank you all for being so patient with me... this year is going to a crazy year for me and I feel like its only getting crazier. This may well be my last contest until summer, maybe longer.

Example: Because everyone has a unique theme, your outfit should not look exactly like mine. However here are some basic ideas to help you dress your avatar in the theme of your boutique. First, "Does your boutique have any distinct colors?" in my case my theme is Batman, so black and gray are prominent colors in my decor and displayed clothes items. Second, "Is some of your decor specific to a certain climate/habitat?" currently The Bat Cave doesn't have its full decor, but I think you get the idea. You could also dress in items that can commonly be found in your store. Don't forget to add a pop of color (like the rose in my outfit) to make your outfit stand out!

Weekly Closet Update: Nautical Nightwear

The weekly updates seem to be getting better, which is good for Team Lava's sake.

With that said, there are some things which I don't like about this outfit. First off, the color of the cleansing mask is not one I would pick or wear with this outfit. The shoes where sadly gems, so buying them wasn't an option for me since I don't spend gems. I wish TL would make one pair of slippers for us non gem spenders, but I bout they ever will.

In my version of the new outfit, I am wearing the face cleanser and shorts, with one of my other shirts and nightwear that I have. I think the shorts are cute and the original shirt is to, but once again it costs gems. What do y'all think of this interesting outfit that TL gave us this week? ~ Sky's Limit

The Bat Cave: My Semi-successful Fashion Story Boutique

A few months ago I wrote a series of posts on how to start a Fashion Story boutique. During that time I started The Bat Cave on my mother's phone so I could show you how it works from start to finish. Today I wanted to show you how The Bat Cave's theme is coming along.

As you can see I have quite an amount of work to do still on the store decor, and I am having trouble keeping it stocked up since its on my mom's phone. I have also changed the theme outfit from idea to realty with a few tweaks. I am still saving up for some gem items to finish it off, but this is what it looks like now.

Weekly Updates: Precious Prints and Track Chic

Precious Prints: Seriously Team Lava? Even though this is better than the last few, it needs a lot of work. My version of it is on the right, I only used the shoes... honestly their outfit, ugh. Bland colors, immodest design... the list could go on. Not only that but it was over priced in my opinion. 

Track Chic: Way better! I love the jacket, though I can't afford it and the idea of the outfit is better than the last 6 weeks. The pants and shoes look a lot like some we already have, but with a little twist. I love how this outfit looks and works in my closet... Is it just me, or did TeamLava figure out that we don't like bland? Next weeks outfit will tell. My version of this outfit is on the left.

You and your best friend are going to play golf! You might want to put your hair up and remember to be casual and modest, and add a touch color. Be creative and have fun!

You have 24 hours to change, post "Golf" when you are done. 5 players will be eliminated, so choose your outfits carefully.

There are no required items for this round.

Example: casual and comfortable, my avatar is wearing my favorite tennis shoes, a comfortable purple shirt and nice pants. Go for elegant yet not fancy, simple yet not gym clothes. Color is my favorite thing about this outfit... Make it pop!
